Our statement on attempts to bring the culture wars into the Franklin-McKinley School District

We are the Santa Clara County Democrats for Education, a Democratic club of educators and public school supporters. One of the goals we were founded on is to hold local politicians and government leaders accountable for promoting rigorous, fair, and accessible public schools governed by publicly elected school boards that guide students toward mastery of academic and life skills.

Bringing the culture wars into the classroom, as groups like the Values Action Council and Informed Parents of Silicon Valley are trying to do, does nothing but sow division and hatred in our schools and communities. We know that parents and educators share the same goal: promoting the well-being and safety of our students and giving them the skills and knowledge they will need in life.

We are here in support of all students. We are here because schools should be safe spaces for all students and staff. We are here to protect public schools.

Please join us at the FMSD board meeting on Tuesday, September 26 at 7 pm. We will be standing up against attempts to divide our communities and lifting up the message to support all students.
